St Paul's Methodist Church, Shaw

About Us

Who We Are

Shaw and Royton Circuit

St Paul's is one of seven Methodist churches in the Shaw and Royton Circuit. Our minister, Rev. David Jones, serves the whole circuit as superintendent minister. He leads a team of two other ministers, Rev. Neville Markham and Rev. Lindsay Neal , our Youth and Family Worker, Mr John Wilson, two 'Supernumerary' (retired) ministers and a team of local preachers. The circuit churches join once a quarter on a Sunday evening for a Circuit United Service, which is normally led by all circuit staff. Representatives from each of the churches meet twice a year at a Circuit Meeting.

District and Connexion

The Shaw and Royton Circuit is part of the Manchester and Stockport District, which in turn is part of the Methodist 'Connexion' of Great Britain.

United Reformed Church, Shaw

St Paul's has developed close ties with the United Reformed Church, Rochdale Rd, Shaw. The two churches join for worship once a quarter on Sunday mornings. The venue alternates from quarter to quarter between the two churches.

Churches Together in Shaw and Crompton

St Paul's also links with other denominations as part of Churches Together in Shaw and Crompton. During the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity in January we usually meet each weekday for prayer and lunch at a different church each day, and on the Sunday at the end of the week hold a United Service. The prayer lunches continue on a monthly basis hosted in rotation by the various churches. Churches Together organise the annual Whit Sunday service on Kershaw Street car park and other events from time to time.
